No. The selected file is read by browser media APIs on your device. Models may be downloaded when needed, but the video itself is not sent to VidRefine.
The tool checks WebGPU and model availability before processing and displays either “On-device AI” or “Local media processing.” A fallback is never labelled as AI.
It reports metadata the browser can actually read: resolution, duration, frame rate, bitrate, codec, audio tracks, aspect ratio and decode support. It does not invent blur or noise scores.
VidRefine measures the encoded file. If the first result is over target, it adjusts the bitrate and retries once. Success is shown only after the output has been measured.
Codec support differs by browser and operating system. VidRefine prefers H.264/AAC MP4 and uses VP9/Opus WebM when MP4 encoding is unavailable.
